Full Beard Natural, Under 8 Inches

Full Beard Under 8This is a full beard, with all parts of the beard and moustache naturally grown to a maximum length of eight inches (20.32 cm), with no styling products permitted.

Acceptable styling methods to be used with a natural full beard include brushing, combing, conditioning, and shampooing.

 

Full Beard Over 8Full Beard Natural, 8 Inches and Over

This is a full beard, with all parts of the beard and moustache naturally grown to a length of eight inches (20.32 cm) or more, with no styling products permitted.

Acceptable styling methods to be used with a natural full beard include brushing, combing, conditioning, and shampooing.

Cropped Beard/Starter Beard

This  is a short or scruffy beard, with all parts of the beard and moustache naturally grown, with no styling products permitted.

Acceptable styling methods to be used with a natural beard include brushing, combing, conditioning, and shampooing.

Groomed Beard

Groomed BeardA groomed full beard is a full beard, with all parts of the beard and moustache grown, expertly brushed, trimmed, shaped, and generally maintained, with minimal styling products and methods. A styled moustache is permitted.

Acceptable styling methods to be used with a groomed full beard include brushing, combing, conditioning, shampooing, and trimming. Styling products are acceptable, but should be limited to refinements for overall moustache and beard shape.

Styled Moustache

Styled MoustacheThe moustache as it grows naturally, the more natural the better!

A natural moustache is any length of hair grown from above the upper lip and underneath the nose, with no styling products permitted.

Acceptable styling methods to be used with a natural moustache include brushing, combing, conditioning, and shampooing.

Chin hair is not permitted in this category: no “goatees”/van dykes, musketeers, etc. Sideburns unconnected to the moustache are permissible. They cannot be overstated, and will not be considered during judging.

ChopsA partial beard is any facial hair that is neither a full beard, nor only a moustache.  Minimal styling products may be used, and a styled moustache is permitted.

Common styles include:

  • Chops (cheeks only)
  • Friendly Chops (cheeks connected by moustache)
  • Natural Goatee (chin only)
  • Van Dyke (connected moustache and chin beard)
  • Triple Point/Musketeer (moustache with narrow, pointed chin beard)
  • Donegal/Alaskan Whaler (large moustache-less beard)

Partial Beard Freestyle

Partial Beard FreestyleA partial beard is any facial hair that is neither a full beard, nor only a moustache.  Anything goes in this category, but all hair used must be real and attached to the face.

Common styles include:

  • Chops (cheeks only)
  • Friendly Chops (cheeks connected by moustache)
  • Natural Goatee (chin only)
  • Van Dyke (connected moustache and chin beard)
  • Triple Point/Musketeer (moustache with narrow, pointed chin beard)
  • Donegal/Alaskan Whaler (large moustache-less beard)

This category includes the free design and creative styling of the beard.  All partial beards that do not qualify for other categories may compete here.

FreestyleA styled full beard is a full beard, with all parts of the beard and moustache grown, styled with any product.

Styling aids are permitted. All hair must still be attached to the face.

Fake Realistic

Fake RealisticThis category is open to everyone. The goal is to create the most realistic-looking facial hair of any style. Creativity and craftsmanship is encouraged.

The fake facial hair should be as true-to-form, life-like, and convincing as possible.

Fake Creative

Fake CreativeThis category is open to everyone.  Create the most imaginative, creative, and fantastic facial hair of any style you can. Creativity and craftsmanship is encouraged.

The choice of materials is completely open. The more imaginative, the better.
